Course Description

The Saratoga Stress Reduction Program is modeled on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program founded by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Dr. Kabat-Zinn and his colleagues have collected decades of data demonstrating the profound impact mindfulness meditation practices can have for those struggling with pain, mental illness and life-threatening diseases. Mindfulness meditation practices have also been shown to help people better cope with the challenges of everyday life in this busy, stressful world.
Participants report having an enhanced ability to cope with both short and long-term stressful situations, increased ability to relax, lasting decreases in physical and psychological symptoms, reductions in pain levels and an enhanced ability to cope with pain that may never go away and, finally, greater energy and enthusiasm for life. This course is now taught at over 200 sites worldwide. Dr. Selma Nemer and Caroline Russell Smith are thrilled to bring this program to the Capital District.
Cost
If you are paying out-of-pocket, the rate is $500 per person for the eight-week class: $250 is due on Class 1 and balance due by Class 5.

If you use health insurance, you are responsible for weekly co-pays as well as $100 for the all-day retreat. Sliding fee scale and payment plans are available for those who qualify.
