The Osteopathic Lineage of Healing:
Restoring innate health through cranial osteopathy and craniosacral therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, profoundly relaxing form of bodywork that slows down the nervous system, making way for our instinctive, natural ability to reorganize toward health. Biodynamic craniosacral therapy addresses the fluid body (each of us is composed of up to 75% water!) and our inner rhythms (eg: heart, breath, cerebrospinal fluid). This light-pressure technique can be especially beneficial for those living with:

Margery Chessare, LMT, has been in private practice as a Craniosacral therapist since 1995. Following careers in journalism, dance and fitness, she was introduced to this powerful yet meditative form of bodywork while attending massage school in New Jersey. In 1999 she was invited to teach Craniosacral Therapy at the newly established Center for Natural Wellness School of Massage Therapy in Albany, where she continues to instruct CST introductory classes. Independently, she leads advanced trainings for craniosacral practitioners.

Margery's background includes several versions of Craniosacral therapy: Upledger CranioSacral Therapy, Hugh Milne's Visionary Craniosacral, and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, which she studied with Scott Zamurut, Michael Kern, and Michael Shea. She served as a Teaching Assistant for the Upledger Institute in 1998, and is currently assisting Michael Shea, Biodynamic innovator and author, with his three-year Biodynamic Foundation Training at the Open Center in NYC.

Margery continues to study and integrate methods and materials that enhance her craniosacral work, including trauma resolution (Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing), embryology, pregnancy and birth issues.

She is the author of a chapter in the book Working Wonders: Changing Lives with CranioSacral Therapy, published by North Atlantic Press.

Independently, Margery offers Biodynamic Craniosacral trainings for practitioners, as well as Intro to Craniosacral classes for non-professionals. It is her belief that the basics of this work can and should be taught to anyone who wants a gentle, hands-on means of facilitating the health of their loved ones.

Margery treats adults and teens in her private, quiet office. Aromatherapy is used to complement each client's visit. For the vast majority of people a Craniosacral session is extraordinarily peaceful and subtle, yet the experience can be profound. Every session is unique.

Moreover, the Craniosacral treatment itself is only the beginning. Each session sets into motion the organizing, self-healing capabilities we all have at our core. Reorganization at any level--physical, emotional, energetic, spiritual--can continue for hours and even days (normally about 48 hours) following treatment.

People notice the shifts in different ways. Many report a decrease of symptoms. Some find their senses heightened, such as hearing or vision. Many say they sleep much better after Craniosacral therapy, and often their dreams are more memorable and significant. Virtually everyone comes away with a feeling of well-being, even those who find themselves connecting with challenging or traumatic issues. Clients in counseling have reported that sessions with their psychotherapists are much more streamlined and productive following Craniosacral therapy.

Young people often experience tremendous results with just one or two Craniosacral sessions. Treating a baby can be accomplished in minutes! Adults usually require a series of three sessions to get started; many choose to continue Craniosacral "tune ups" on a regular basis (perhaps every four to six weeks). After all, as adults we've spent years living with and accommodating established patterns, regardless of whether they continue to serve us.

Truly, Craniosacral therapy is good for all of us, providing a rare and beautiful opportunity for self-reflection and self-healing. With virtually no negative side-effects, it can be life changing.
